Pelvis and Acetabular Fractures

The pelvis, acetabulum (hip joint socket) and the ligaments that support the pelvis can be injured with a simple fall in the elderly population. In younger patients these are usually high energy injuries. Their complexity requires a multidisciplinary approach to care, with the aim of returning patients to their normal everyday lives.

The CT images reveal a patient with pelvic, acetabulum and femur fractures treated with surgery to allow the bones to heal naturally. He has no ongoing pain or problems and has returned to enjoying activities such as cycling again.
